Chantal Kreviazuk Updates Us on Her ‘Dreamy’ Sons
Regular CBB readers may remember our column with LA-based Canadian singer Chantal Kreviazuk earlier this year, as she chronicled her third pregnancy for us. It’s time for an update! After welcoming her third son in June, life has become a little hectic in the Maida household with Rowan Michael, 4 ½, Lucca Jon, 3, and Salvador ‘Sal’ Daniel, 4 ½ months. Here Chantal tells us about "the experience of being a mom to three boys four years old and under!"

As a singer and song writer, along with being a mother of three, Chantal is always busy, but she knows it could be worse! Chantal says that a friend of hers with four children must either be "more patient than me, crazier than me or doesn’t feel as much pain." However, that hasn’t stopped Chantal and her husband, Our Lady Peace’s Raine Maida, from considering a fourth child, explaining that she’s "enjoying every minute and may even want another." She isn’t sure that Raine will be in on that plan though!
When life gets a little hectic, Chantal finds herself laughing. With three boys, Chantal admits there’s at least "one battle going on" with crying and tears everyday. But through the bad times, Chantal smiles when she sees her older boys interacting with baby Sal, who is "sooooooo dreamy." From feeding Sal solids to her "hilarious" older sons, Chantal shares that life at the moment is just "wonderful."
I am just enjoying every minute that I can.I am learning and growing everyday; becoming a better person (I hope)from the experience! The boys are super gentle with their baby brother, and always ask tohold him every chance they get. They cry when I say no!So I let them. How can I resist?!I find that I do bribe a bit more, and I eat a bit less, shower less, have sex less, you know the drill. But God, when you do get to have time for yourself (or your partner) isit ever fabulous!
Sal is four and a half months. He started crying when I was eating myfood, reaching for it in fact, so he is now eating some solids (if youcan call them that!).He loves it — sweet potato, avocado, rice cereal, and of course, banana.I will try yogurt next.I did that thing where you roast the sweet potato, and then spoon it,mashed, into several ice cube trays, freeze and store in a zip lockbag. That way, we can just leave one out to thaw mid-day, and it is ready togo mid-afternoon for him.Not feeding him at night for a while, seems to upset his tummy toomuch.Sal said "Hi" from two to three months, I think it was a weird fluke! Itstopped.
Rowan and Lucca continue to be very active, musical, hilarious (lots ofbad knock knock jokes) and the best entertainment one could ask for.
I miss them all when they sleep.

CBB Exclusive: Chantal Kreviazuk’s pregnancy column: Birthing plan and baby boy #3
In her final column, Canadian chanteuse Chantal Kreviazuk, 34, who is expecting her third son with hubby Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace on July 15th, chats about her plans for the delivery of her next baby. With the birth increasingly imminent (she is already 1 cm dilated and the doctor felt the baby’s head last week), Chantal shares her thoughts on suffering pain and the way in which she wants to welcome her next son. The LA-based singer/songwriter is also mom to Rowan Michael, 4 ½, and Lucca Jon, 3.
For many reasons, I am going to be open to a completely uninterrupted natural birth this time. As I type this, I am, I believe, potentially starting some labor. The nights have been presenting a lot of good "ripening" for me, and preparing my body for the big event. In the past, my births were not intervened until I was about 7 cm dilated.
Coming from a really hospital-oriented background (I was in a motor vehicle accident at the age of 19, which sentenced me to a lot of pain/trauma and post-operative care), I felt really comfortable with the whole idea of entrusting any health issues to the doctors and the medical profession, as a result of the duration of time spent in hospitals, how much I was helped subsequent to my accident, and post-op care, which seemed never ending. I have also had an ovary removed — needless to say, between all ofthe hospital stays, my births, etc, I am quite happy in the hospital, with spinals and pain relief, etc.

CBB Exclusive: Chantal Kreviazuk’s pregnancy column: An uncomfortable pregnant lady, an unsure sibling and more babies
In her fourth column, Canadian chanteuse Chantal Kreviazuk, 34, who is expecting her third son with hubby Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace on July 15th, chats about being the uncomfortable, yet grateful expectant mom, her eldest son still being unsure about the baby and having another baby (before this one has even arrived!). The LA-based singer/songwriter is also mom to Rowan Michael, 4, and Lucca Jon, 2 ½.
I am so ready to put on a pair of skinny jeans, wax my bikiniline and wear shoes that require that I bend and lace. I’m ready to RUNnot waddle. We’re back HERE! At this point in pregnancy, things truly aregetting a little slow and uncomfortable.I remember after I had Lucca, just feeling that feeling of there NOTbeing a kid in my person.I am kind of craving that feeling again now.
I have to pee 40 times a night, and I am only at 31 weeks! I amdoing my very best to NOT complain about any aspect of pregnancy, always having at the forefront of my mind that I am so so blessed tohave another little dude in my belly, and the fact that I could behaving another one right away. (I have a fantasy of having a whopping 4child family!) Best not to complain about being pregnant if I am goingto jump right back in!

CBB Exclusive: Chantal Kreviazuk’s pregnancy column: The boys, the baby and the emotional mama-to-be!
This column is sponsored by Hold*Me Baby Slings, who is providing Chantal — a huge babywearing fan — now 26 weeks along, with slings for her new son. They are sending duplicate products to her favorite outreach program, Villa Rosa. In her third column, Canadian chanteuse Chantal Kreviazuk, 34, who is expecting her third son with hubby Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace on July 15th, chats about the demands of a pregnant mother and wife, her new son consuming her life in every possible (fabulous) way, taking her older sons to the ultrasound, and baby names. The LA-based singer/songwriter is also mom to Rowan Michael, 4, and Lucca Jon, 2 ½.
I am now at that point in pregnancy where I am almost exclusively this child’s baby mama. All other Chantal roles are on sabbatical. I am consumed with him, both physically and emotionally.
I dream about him at night and worry that he will come out too early, because my other two came out two and three weeks preterm. Rowan arriving two weeks earlier at 7 lbs, 6 oz was not so bad, but Lucca coming out at 6 lbs 10 oz [was scary].
I had this moment, when I saw him — I just thought something was wrong because he was SO gangly. Perhaps that remained in my sub-conscience all this time, and has been festering because now it is manifesting as a bit of a nightmare.

CBB Exclusive: Chantal Kreviazuk’s pregnancy journal: The sensitivities of a pregnant mother
This column is sponsored by Bravado, who is providing Chantal, now 22 weeks along, with a variety of nursing bras. They are sending duplicate products to her favorite outreach program, Villa Rosa. In her second column, Canadian chanteuse Chantal Kreviazuk, 34, who is expecting her third son with hubby Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace on July 15th, chats about confronting the reality of three kids, her sensitivity while pregnant, being shaken up by a taxi driver, and a special dolphin encounter. The LA-based singer/songwriter is also mom to Rowan Michael, 4, and Lucca Jon, 2 ½, who are pictured here with her in a CBB photoshoot.
For starters, I think our nanny gave the children a bit too much chocolate tonight. There was a bar of Toblerone looming around her in the play room that I noticed! The children were going absolutely crazy after she left this evening, and I couldn’t help but stop and ask myself, "A third!?" (as in, our third baby is on the way.) Then they fall asleep, and it is magic. Lucca fell asleep sustaining a bit of that little hyper-ventilating whimper in his breathing. It just about broke my heart. They were JUST impossible tonight, and I loved them so much. I just wished I could have fixed everything.

This column is sponsored by Chloe In Style, who is providing Chantal, now 18 weeks along, with baby and toddler apparel and toys. They are sending duplicates of each item to one of Chantal’s favorite outreach programs, Villa Rosa.
With the birth of her second child just three weeks away, our pregnancy column with Melissa Joan Hart is wrapping up (keep an eye out for her last journal entries and a CBB photoshoot later this week and next).
Looking to continue the journal format with another expectant mama due this summer, we contacted Canadian chanteuse Chantal Kreviazuk, 34, who is expecting her third son with hubby Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace on July 15th. The LA-based singer/songwriter is also mom to Rowan Michael, 4, and Lucca Jon, 2 ½, whom readers met in our well-received May 2007 interview.
As Melissa’s column did, Chantal’s will also have a philanthropic twist. Together with Chantal, the Celebrity Baby Blog is pleased to announce our collaboration with the Winnipeg, MB-based Villa Rosa, a prenatal and postnatal residence offering a wide variety of programs for single, pregnant, and new mothers.
Read on for Chantal’s first journal entry.
I am due to have my third child, another boy, on July 15th. I am really excited. I gave birth to Lucca just 16 months after our first child, Rowan. It was a bit much, now that I look back. I was pregnant with Lucca when Ro was just 6 months old! I think that for the first month or so, I was pretty freaked out, even scared and depressed. I am glad that the boys are close in age, it is an awesome thing. But giving my body a bit of a rest was definitely in order! Now I am ready for another pregnancy, birth, and new little life to enter the picture.
