Nicole Sullivan Recounts ‘Cell Phone Incident’ With Sons
Flynet |
The presence of brotherly love in Nicole Sullivan’s household is still up in the air. Although the actress and her husband Jason Packham made the decision to let nature take its course between their sons Dashel Pierce, 2 ½, and Beckett Edward, 11 weeks, she tells Celebrity Baby Blog the sibling pair are still on shaky ground.
“There was an incident with a cell phone on the head, but other than that [Dashel] is doing pretty well,” she shared while attending the March of Dimes 4th Annual Celebration of Babies luncheon. “All I know is I looked over and there was a cell phone on the baby’s head and the baby was crying. I was like, ‘Well, I don’t know how that went down.’”
However, there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel! “He laughs at him and thinks he’s funny,” Nicole says of toddler. Hopeful that their relationship will improve with time, the mother-of-two can’t help but envision her future filled with trips to the hospital.
“Listen, they’re going to be wrestling, I’m going to be taking them to the emergency room. Who am I kidding. They are going to be fighting all the time, but that’s what it’s all about.”
Despite a few bumps in the road, motherhood has been smooth sailing the second time around. As she’s no longer “freaking out every two seconds,” a “much more relaxed” Nicole has shifted her priorities, focusing her attention on the future of her family.
“Before I had kids, I would be out nursing a hangover, hanging out going to breakfast,” she admits, “and instead I’m here dedicating my time to making sure the world is a better place. That’s because I want my kids to grow up somewhere where they learn to give back.”
For Dashel, his gift to the world may be his ability to keep his audience laughing! The Rita Rocks star reveals that her “hilarious” first-born is following in his parents footsteps, however, unfortunately Nicole is often the butt of the joke! “My son is already doing bits and it irritates me,” she confesses. “He’s already laughing at me and I’m like you know, how dare you not fall far from the tree.”
Beckett has kept his mama smiling as well — baby boy is gurgling the occasional “agoo,” much to Nicole’s delight.
“Listen, that’s not much, but when you’re a mom, it’s pretty exciting. It’s like a two-syllable word.”

Hank Azaria Says Hal Is Hitting Major Milestones
J. Graylock/JPI |
Before welcoming his first child Hal, Hank Azaria never knew of the March of Dimes organization. However, when baby boy was born considerably early, the actor and his girlfriend Katie Wright learned firsthand the trials and tribulations that accompany the life of a premature baby. “We were unaware of it until it happened to us,” he tells Celebrity Baby Blog at the March of Dimes 4th Annual Celebration of Babies luncheon.
“Once we went through what you go through with a premature child even with the best care, the idea that there’s an organization that helps people and children in that situation is fantastic.”
Fortunately, after starting his life in an incubator, 5-month-old Hal is flourishing as he continues to meet his milestones, beginning with his trip home from the hospital, an event Hank refers to as a “big day” in baby boy’s life. “Him being able to take a bottle is a huge milestone,” Hank notes. “He was born before he had a suck-swallow reflex — that was a big day.”
Noting that the addition of his son has “made me a lot more tired [and] a lot less selfish,” Hank still finds the responsibility incredibly rewarding, a sentiment that has only grown with Hal’s latest accomplishment. “We are at the phase where he is just starting to smile,” he says.
“The little looking into your eyes and smiling — I was told that was going to be a good moment and it was.”
Life as a first-time father has opened up new doors for Hank, who has since begun work on a documentary surrounding fatherhood. “I ask for a lot of advice from different fathers — all kinds of dads,” he shares. “Mostly just any tips they can give.” And while the footage is for the film, Hank has managed to pick up quite a few pointers along the way! “I have learned a lot and it has been very helpful,” he says of his interviews.

Jerry O’Connell on Twins’ Personality Differences
Fame |
Each working actors in the industry, Jerry O’Connell and wife Rebecca Romijn have no problem providing for their fraternal twin daughters Charlie Tamara Tulip and Dolly Rebecca Rose, 10 months. That said, if the stars align, Jerry — noting that his girls are Capricorns — jokes that the tables will soon be turned!
“It means that they’re going to be independently wealthy, so I’m hoping they can make some money and help fund my horse racing habit. Note I said habit and not addiction,” the doting dad, on hand to celebrate the 2009 Breeders’ Cup World Championships, laughs.
Although they may be twins, Charlie and Dolly’s personalities are like night and day, Jerry notes. While one twin is “go with anything, you put her down, she’s cool with it,” her sister makes sure her needs don’t go unnoticed!
“One is just a little more demanding, and wants her way,” he explains to Celebrity Baby Blog. “If you have something shiny near you, she wants it and if you don’t give it to her she’s very upset.”
And while he’s more than willing to dish on his girls, Jerry stays mum on which twin possesses which personality!
“I just shouldn’t say, but one is a little more diabolical than the other one, but I like that…it shows spunk.”
With Jerry a stay-at-home dad by day and law student by night and Rebecca wrapping up work on the just-canceled Eastwick, alone time is a rarity. Fortunately, the couple call in the troops — both sets of grandparents! — on occasion to lend a helping hand.
“We throw the kids at them and then we’ll take off for a couple of hours and go out to dinner,” Jerry shares.
“Sounds pretty tame, but when you have kids, you can’t fly off to Bora Bora for a weekend. Even a quiet dinner at Chili’s away from the kids is just — I love them! — [but] it’s a relief!”

Elisabeth Röhm Relinquishes Her Days As a ‘Control Freak’
TTA Media/Splash News Online |
The idea of parenthood doesn’t generally bring to mind images of a worry-free environment, but Elisabeth Röhm tells Celebrity Baby Blog if becoming a mother to her daughter Easton August, 19 months, has taught her one thing, it’s to simply sit back and relax. “Less is more,” the actress opens up while attending the March of Dimes 4th Annual Celebration of Babies luncheon.
“You can’t sweat the small stuff. Days of being a control freak are out the window. You really have to roll with life more. She’s given me a strong sense of peace and confidence to trust my instincts.”
Those instincts are undoubtedly being put to good use; Elisabeth — currently on the preschool prowl — reveals that Easton is becoming quite the talkative toddler! “She’s beginning to talk right now which is a tremendous milestone,” she says, “so that’s pretty exciting to see her really put her words together.”
Once admitting she had grown attached to her remaining pregnancy pounds, the Heroes star is back in full force when it comes to her exercise routine. “Chasing after a toddler and going back to work has helped,” she notes of her body after baby. However her greatest tool to shed the remaining stubborn pounds has been to hit the pavement running. “It’s something I can do in a short amount of time and I don’t have to be too pressured,” she explains.
Easton is Elisabeth’s daughter with Ron Wooster.

Judy Reyes Relies On Family For Pregnancy Support
Fame |
Due with her first child on November 30th, Judy Reyes is quickly approaching the finish line — and has much to show for it! Speaking to Celebrity Baby Blog at the Asics and Hello Kitty gifting lounge, the Scrubs star explains that the pregnancy has left her navigating uncharted waters on more than one occasion.
Fortunately, Judy isn’t alone; In addition to her boyfriend George Valencia, she says she relies heavily on her sisters, both mothers of 1-year-olds.
“I call them like, ‘Oh, this hurts,’ or ‘I’ve got the hemorrhoids,’ which I’m not ashamed to say,” she laughs.
“I’m delivering this bit of trauma and they’re like, ‘Oh, yeah [in feigned sympathy].’ All they tell me is, ‘Just relax and breathe through it. It will pass. Go through your exercises. Do your walking or your yoga and it will pass. It’s coming. It’s almost over. The pay off is going to be worth it.’”
Judy, 43, and George are more than happy to share their daughter’s due date details, but explain that their final pick for her name is being kept under wraps.
“We haven’t even told our family because we’re amazed at how opinionated people are even when you’re just speculating on a name,” she notes, adding that she is often put off by the constant stream of suggestions. “They either tell you who they know has that name or what kind of person they were, which automatically clouds your reasons.”
And while the name has been decided on, Judy admits baby girl’s bedroom is still a work in progress! “We have nothing close to a nursery, and yet we’ve been blessed with so much s–t we don’t even know what to do with!” she laughs.
According to the mama-to-be, she has dodged the bullet when it comes to unusual pregnancy cravings. That said, Judy insists on starting each morning with a muffin — no flavor preference! “I don’t discriminate with the muffins,” she jokes.
“In October during Halloween, it was pumpkin chocolate chip muffins. That was off the hook.”
Her love of carbs is easily offset by her devotion to fitness. Calling exercise a “godsend” over the past few months, Judy — who focuses on yoga and walking — has had to slow down considerably as her belly continues to grow. “It goes from every day to four times a week to two times a week because everything just gets really heavy. It’s kind of like walking underwater,” she shares.
Looking forward to meeting her daughter on delivery day, Judy can’t contain her excitement — or fears! — when it comes to envisioning life with baby. “We have so many emotions attached to what it’s going to feel like when she comes,” she confesses.
“Time slows down the closer it gets because of the physical trauma that’s attached to it. It’s like, ‘Oh my God, it’s really getting closer.’ There’s anxiety and pressure because you really do want to be a good parent.”

Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon: Jax and Jaid Are Two Peas In a Pod
Kristian Dowling/Getty |
Aside from their October 18th birthday, 2-year-old fraternal twins Jaid Thomas and Jax Joseph have little else in common!
“[Jax] is definitely friendlier — he’ll be your friend right away — and Jaid is a little more reserved — he’ll check you out before,” the boys’ mom Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon dishes to Celebrity Baby Blog, adding that the differences between the two have been obvious “since day one…I swear to you!”
That said, despite their contrasting personalities, nothing is stronger than the brotherly bond the twins share. According to the actress, Jaid and Jax have recently become more aware of the other and in turn look to each other for comfort.
“They sleep in the same room and Jax will wake up [first]. I’ll pick him up to take him downstairs and he’ll be like, ‘Jaid! Jaid! Jaid!’ like, ‘Don’t leave my brother, don’t leave my brother!’” she says.
“It’s really amazing because I always think that because they’re together all the time, they’d be sick of each other. Sometimes they are, but it’s really nice to see how much they depend on each other and look forward to seeing one another.”
Life is hectic as a mom to three — including Oliver, 18 — but Garcelle, 42, and husband Mike Nilon make it a point to take quality couple time.
“We try to go see plays, we try to go to dinners, but we go away sometimes to Palm Desert for two days, just to get away,” she shares. “The other day we went to the W hotel in Westwood, just for the day…we sat by the pool, had lunch, just hung out. It was great…little getaways.”

Kellie Martin Is Enjoying Maggie’s Independence
Axelle/Bauer-Griffin |
Having welcomed a healthy daughter in 2006 — Margaret ‘Maggie’ Heather, 3 — actress Kellie Martin is ever cognizant of all she has to be grateful for.
“I had no trouble and no complications, and it’s still difficult to be a parent … It’s still difficult to be a new mom,” the 34-year-old former ER star notes to Celebrity Baby Blog at the March of Dimes‘ Fourth Annual Celebration of Babies.
“The idea that people have babies who are born with complications and issues or really, really low birth weights, that’s so much more difficult. I’m right here to support that.”
As for Maggie, preschool is underway and although she suffers some separation anxiety from mom and dad Keith Christian, the experience has been a good one.
“She gets a little nervous for us to get there, but when she’s there, she’s fine. And it is really cool to see her have her own life that has nothing to do with us. She’ll say something and [laugh], like a little inside joke she has with her friend Olive at school.”
Watching Maggie become more independent is something Kellie says she relishes.
“I felt like she was really ready and she was craving more,” she explains. “Like she was over me and my husband at home. She needed to broaden her horizons. So knowing that she was ready for that, I was fine.”
There are lots of other milestones to celebrate, as well. Kellie says that Maggie knows her ABCs — “I don’t even know where she learned them because we are not trying to push her,” Kellie notes — her numbers, and she’s already showing keen observational skills!
“On the way here she said, ‘We’re going to the March of Dimes benefit so we can help babies.’ And she must have just heard us. If we say it, it’s a part of her world….she’s at that point where she’s this incredible sponge and nothing gets by her — which is why we can’t use the f-bomb in the house because it would be part of her vocabulary!”

Julie Bowen: No Brotherly Love Amongst My Boys
Kevan Brooks/AdMedia |
Brotherly love is — for the moment — unheard of in Julie Bowen’s household.
With the actress having welcomed fraternal twins John and Gus in May, first-born Oliver McLanahan, 2 ½, is having a tough time adjusting to big brotherhood.
“He hates them, but you know what, tough, he’ll get past it,” Julie tells Celebrity Baby Blog at the March of Dimes 4th Annual Celebration of Babies luncheon.
“He’s a boy. Boys don’t like babies. He’s the oldest. He definitely fights for my attention.”
Fortunately, Oliver has much to keep him busy — the toddler has started preschool!
“He’s [in] two days a week,” Julie shares. “He loves it.”
Despite his resistance to John and Gus, Oliver is all about his new teachers!
“Apparently, he’s working his magical charms on the teachers there,” laughs Julie.
In attempts to win back his mother’s attention, Julie jokes that Oliver has even taken to using his charisma on her!
“He tries to get me to stay in bed with him — he strokes my face and tells me I’m beautiful,” she reveals.
“He’s like a two-and-a-half seducer. He’s like, ‘Mama, you stay here, you’re so beautiful,’ and I’m like, ‘Yes, yes.’ I’m being seduced by a two-and-a-half year-old.”
