Argington Kid’s Furniture Launches New Eco-Friendly Collection

Argington Furniture

Argington — a chic kid’s furniture brand created by husband and wife design duo Jenny Argie and Andrew Thornton — has launched a new affordable, eco-friendly line, The Bam Collection.

The comprehensive, ten-set nursery collection ($44 – $1349) is made with 100% non toxic and formaldehyde-free materials, glues and stains. Plus, each piece comes in three beautiful finishes — ebony, white and solid bamboo.

This high-style/high-minded furniture line is super popular with Hollywood’s stylish and eco-conscious moms including Katherine Heigl, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba and Kourtney Kardashian.

New mom Sarah Michelle Gellar Prinze loves the brand so much, she decked daughter Charlotte Grace’s nursery out with the Sahara crib and changing table, the Eiffel bookcase, the Fuji toybox and the Ayres nightstand!

Wallcandy Arts: Sticky & Sweet

Wallcandy Arts

Want to add some color to your nursery, but don’t like to paint? Want to add a personal touch, but can’t afford a customized mural? Try Wallcandy Arts — a line of super cute decorative wall stickers that come in a variety of colors and patterns. They’re also 100% removable and won’t damage your wall. It’s no wonder celebrity moms like Debra Messing, Kate Hudson and Courteney Cox-Arquette are fans!

The designs range from bold and funky (Nightly News, above, Candy Factory) to sweet and subdued (Fly Society or Deerly Beloved). Each kit comes with a plethora of stickers that will take up several feet of wall space.

I especially love the Smart Bees and Trees collection. A joint effort between Wallcandy and the Vega Project, it contains six sheets of over 50 decals in eye-popping black and white — a color scheme pediatricians agree helps improve the gross motor skills and eye development of newborns.

Ready to take things to the next level? Check out the company’s chalkboard circles. These patented 18.5″ round stickers come four to a pack, and even arrive with dustless chalk that is free of common allergens like latex, dairy, casein, egg, gluten, peanut, tree nut and soy.

Prices range from $25 to $76.

Mobicam AV: Watch Your Monitor Online

Mobicam AV ($150) and the Mobicam AV Internet Kit ($75) work together to let parents watch the baby monitor from work.

The Mobicam AV Wireless Monitor comes with a camera and portable video receiver that lets parents watch the monitor from the receiver, the TV or the computer (when connected with the included cables). It has automatic night-vision mode that works great, even in total darkness.

You can also purchase an additional camera so you can watch two kids at once. The instructions are clear and we got it up and running in a flash. The screen on the portable receiver is pretty tiny, but you can connect it to your TV or PC for larger viewing.

It also can be recorded if you hook the monitor up to a DVR or video recorder. Some of the things I see my boys do in the monitor would definitely be worth saving!

Summer Infant Complete Coverage Color Video Monitor: Don’t Miss A Twitch

Summer Infant’s slick, new Complete Coverage Color Video Monitor ($300) has all the bells and whistles. It has a large, seven-inch color screen that really shows every detail. It swivels and can be easily mounted upside down under a cabinet, so it’s perfect for the kitchen. As I write, my one-year-old son, Egan is sleeping with his arm hanging out of the crib and I can see his fingers move! The colors are washed out and the white walls look greenish, but the clarity in both daylight and nighttime modes is remarkable. The colors are more accurate when the lights are on in the room. BabyBjorn Babysitter Balance Air: A Simple Breathable Baby Seat

UPDATE: BabySwede LLC and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have issued a voluntary safety recall of this product, after small metal pieces were found in the padded section of the Babysitter’s fabric seat. Though no incidents or injuries related to the pieces have been reported, BabyBjorn received notice from two consumers in Japan in relation to the metal, and found pieces in several other models they tested, too. Consumers should stop using the product and contact BabySwede LLC at 1-866-424-0200 for instructions on returning the product for inspection. They can also visit babyswede.com for details.

Like a bouncy seat without the bells, whistles and sing along tunes, the BabyBjorn Babysitter Balance Air ($140-190) is cool looking seat for babies ages newborn to two.

Made with the same mesh fabric as their Baby Carrier Air and Baby Carrier Synergy, the fabric the baby is on is breathable, machine-washable, easy to keep clean and dries quickly.

KidSwitch: The First One To Bed Turns Out The Lights

KidSwitch ($10) is an ingenious gadget invented by a dad whose toddler fell when she was climbing up to reach the light switch.

Fortunately, she wasn’t seriously hurt and the incident gave Daddy an idea.

Made from glow-in-the-dark plastic, the KidSwitch fastens to the switch plate with a screwdriver.

Little ones just pull on the cute, crescent-moon-shaped handle and flip the switch.

There’s no more climbing precarious ladders made from toys and furniture!
