Carnie Wilson Shows Off Luciana’s Nursery!
Carnie Wilson and her hubby, musician Rob Bonfiglio, are eagerly awaiting their next gift from the stork: a little girl, expected in June, whom the couple have already named Luciana. But no one in the house is more excited than Luciana’s soon-to-be big sister, Lola Sofia!
“She’s really, really thrilled,” Carnie, 40, told Life & Style during a recent visit to the family’s home in Tarzana, Calif. “She was with me when I took the pregnancy test, and when we looked at the stick, she started jumping up and down, going, ‘Mommy, you’re pregnant!’ She’s so excited for this baby to come.”
Lola, who turns 4 this month, even moved down the hall to a bigger bedroom so Carnie could get the nursery ready for Luciana. “The furniture’s absolutely gorgeous,” Carnie raves. “It’s from Bellini. I wanted soft colors and a soft palette, so it’s a lot of cream with subtle accents of pink.”
But nothing’s sure to soothe the infant more than her mother’s lullabies — and Carnie’s been preparing by composing her own. “Music is so important to me,” she explains. “I’m already going into the room at 3 a.m. and playing nursery themes and rocking in the chair and just imagining what it’s going to be like to have another. It’s going to be great.”

Carnie’s struggled to control her weight nearly all her life. But now that she’s six months pregnant, she’s enjoying taking the pressure off herself. “I’ve put on 38 pounds,” she tells Life & Style. “I had originally wanted to gain only 25 to 30 pounds, but that didn’t happen — and I’m not beating myself up for it. I don’t want to be neurotic; I want to celebrate the pregnancy.”
For now, she’s been adding an extra 200 to 300 calories a day to her diet in the form of snacks like rice cakes with peanut butter and raspberry bars from Whole Foods Market. Once baby Luciana is born, Carnie’s planning to go back to a diet free of wheat, dairy, sugar and dark meat.
“It’s a really strict plan,” she admits, “but I feel so good when I eat like that. I love things like brown rice and tofu and spaghetti squash. I’ve learned how to cook vegetables really well!” In fact, she’s so confident about her healthy-cooking skills, Carnie’s working on a diet book called Addicted to Health.

It’s Been a ‘Perfect Pregnancy’ for Maxine Bahns
T. Conrad/AdMedia |
The Mentalist’s Maxine Bahns, who was due at the end of February with daughter Madison ‘Maddie’ Rose, recently sat down with Celebrity Parents Magazine to discuss all aspects of her “perfect pregnancy,” which she attributes to her active lifestyle. “I’ve been doing a lot of prenatal yoga. It’s been incredible to watch how my body has changed,” shares Maxine. “I have no complaints at all. I gained 24 pounds; it’s all in my belly! I have no veins, no swelling, and no pregnancy mask.” Her genetic luck enabled the 38-year-old actress to sign with Expecting Models, where she has participated in runway shows and a Similac campaign. Maxine plans to stay on with the agency after her delivery, explaining that she hopes for “both Maddie and I to model, hopefully together!” Modeling is not the only type of work Maxine, who competes in triathlons, plans to jump back into after the birth.
“Two weeks after the baby comes, I’m going to start working again. I finished a film, The Lost Tribe, which is coming out in March. I’m also doing a film called Karmic; it’s an action movie where I play a DEA agent. And of course I will start training for the Half Ironman.”
She also hopes to reappear on The Mentalist. “I wasn’t really showing [this past fall] so it was easy to film my scenes. I have to see if I’m going to resume filming in the spring; it all depends on the writers,” she explains. However, “my character is apparently the driving force behind why Simon Baker’s character Patrick Jane does what he does,” so a return appearance looks promising. No matter what her career holds for her, one thing is for sure — Maxine plans to travel with Madison.
“The great thing about my job is that I’ve traveled a lot and I’ve lived a lot … I love languages, and I love traveling, and I want to share all of this with my daughter. I would love for her to go to French school, and travel with her. I have a feeling she’ll be on the road with me a lot. And I’m really looking forward to that.”

Tricia Penrose Happy to Leave Acting Behind to Become a Full-time Mom
Harold Cunningham/WireImage |
Life for Tricia Penrose has been anything but peaceful since the birth of her second child, Freddy Jay, in August. After experiencing complications during the birth of her first son, Jake, in 2003, Tricia and her husband Mark opted for an elective cesarean, but were met with quite a surprise when the baby showed signs of coming into the world a bit sooner than expected.
What began as a day of shopping quickly turned into a worrisome trip to the emergency room after Tricia, who felt "really sick and strange" at the time, fainted during her outing. Although her blood pressure was significantly high, which was soon accompanied with the beginnings of contractions, doctors were able to stop the labor and eventually sent Tricia home to rest. However, two weeks later Tricia was back in the hospital — this time planned — and ready to welcome the newest addition to the growing family.
Of seeing her son for the first time, Tricia — who admits to worrying how she would "love another human being as much as I love Jake" — recalls a magical moment between mother and son, and with "such an overwhelming feeling" brewing, the actress could do nothing more except pass the time "crying my eyes out." Equally enthralled with his new son, Mark could not ignore the intimate moment he witnessed in the delivery room. "The memory of that moment is like a still in my head. I could see an instant bond between them and I just remember Tricia’s eyes and Freddy’s eyes, like magnets looking at each other," shares the doting dad. According to the couple, they could not be more thrilled with their two children and have no plans to add to their family. In fact, despite previously hoping for a girl, Tricia has had a change of heart, saying she has always wanted two boys.
"People say, ‘Oh, you must be disappointed that you’ve got two lads? Not at all! We wanted two boys. I think boys are move loving and that girls are hard work. I know from what I was like growing up with my mother – I was a cow! Teenage girls are dead secretive and you worry about them more. And two is enough; we are really happy as we are — an extra one would really throw us."

Inside Jeri Ryan’s Daughter Gisele’s Nursery
|
Elizabeth Messina |
No over-the-top nursery for Jeri Ryan and husband Christophe Emé, a chef in L.A. "We wanted a room that could grow with our daughter and was a little more sophisticated," the actress says. But when it came time to choose a crib, Christophe couldn’t resist indulging Gisele Lynn, now 6 months, with furniture fit for royalty: "the most ornate iron canopy princess bed!" describes Jeri. The couple designed the room around the crib, adding a custom changing table and dresser, wood floors and green walls for a "soothing, relaxing" ambiance. The one must-have item for every nursery? "Comfort," Jeri says. “That’s the most important thing.”

Inside Liam McDermott’s New Bedroom
Liam McDermott’s new bedroom |
Recently, we gave you a tour of Tori Spelling’s daughter Stella McDermott’s nursery. As usual, CBB readers had strong and mixed feelings on it, which can probably be summed up by these two comments:
Nina: That nursery is REALLY PINK!!!!
m-dot: Love the room theme. The pink is hot! If you’re going to have a muted pink, why bother? lol. Go bold!

Tori’s son Liam’s big boy room in their new house, on the other hand, has a totally different look that we think you’ll really enjoy. Joanna of MyMomShops thought so too and hunted down what you’ll need to get that look. Tori used a monkey theme because she calls Liam her monkey! She also took a look at Tori and Dean’s own bedroom.

What do you think of Liam’s new room? Do you like it more than Stella’s?

Jacob Young Shows Artistic Talent
All My Children’s Jacob Young and his wife Christen are busy preparing for their son’s arrival in a few months — and that includes getting the nursery ready! The 28-year-old actor shares that he has "done a whole hand-drawn, 360-degree Winnie the Pooh montage scene" and that "Christen’s been painting it." For inspiration Jacob "got all these classic Pooh books and selected images from each one," adding that "it’s turning out really beautifully."
Jacob also revealed that Christen has "had a really easy pregnancy" with no morning sickness, but as the delivery draws closer, "she’s expanding, so she gets little pains here and there."
Christen is due to give birth to the couple’s first child, son Luke Wayne, on November 19th.

Diane Farr Shows Off Twins’ Ballerina-Themed Nursery
Joking that pregnancy is "the one time in your life when you can gain 50 pounds and people congratulate you," actress Diane Farr admits that when an ultrasound revealed twins, "I said a lot of expletives."
Then I realized it was all about organization. Now I’m pretty much prepared. If you open up any drawer in the room, they’re filled for until the girls are 2!
Describing how she chose to decorate the girls’ nursery, Diane, 38, explains her rules: "You should splurge on a really high-end piece, then one medium piece, and a bunch of things to fill in.” For her more expensive items, Diane picked out Posh Tots chandelier and lamps; for her mid-range items, Serena and Lily sheet sets. For furniture, she turned to Bratt Decor for their Venetian Crib in gold (Diane already had one she used with Beckett, so she added another to her nursery) and the Chelsea Double Dresser in espresso. We also hear the babies’ room has a Moses Basket from Posh Tots, plus cute pink outfits from Bloomers Baby, all of which came in Diane’s celebrity "BUMP" bag. (In fact, Diane used a gift certificate from the bag toward the purchase of her lamp and chandelier at Posh Tots.)
The former Numb3rs star and husband Seung Chung expect their twin daughters by the end of this month. The girls will join big brother Beckett Mancuso, 17 months.

Stella McDermott’s Bright Pink Nursery!
Inspired by "vintage boudoir Parisian girliechic," Tori Spelling took her love of pink to the next level while designing 9-week-old daughter Stella Doreen’s nursery. A homeowner for the first time, Tori, 35, dove into decorating exactly as she would like, and the result is bright! No worries though — Stella "loves the bright pink in her room. They say bright colors calm babies." And Stella could use a little calming! Tori admits that her second child is a complete 180 from her first, 17-month-old Liam Aaron. She explains,
BeforeStella, I just knew from Liam and figured all babies are perfect angelsand never cry. While Stella is an angel, she’s very vocal. When shewants to eat, she wants to eat now. And she’ll scream!
Stella’s nursery features the sophisticated Harper Collection of bedding and accessories from baby line Serena & Lily. Tori specifically requested the set, and uses the brightly-colored crib sheets, bumper, diaper changing pad and cover, and bed skirt.
For more from the interview, check out this week’s issue of Life & Style. Get to know Tori and husband Dean McDermott on their reality show, Home Sweet Hollywood, airing Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on Oxygen.

Jessica Alba explains her comment on baby’s skin color and more
Actress Jessica Alba caused quite a stir among CBB readers when she stated that she was "excited for my baby to be brown" in an interview with Latina magazine. The 27-year-old expanded on that statement while speaking with USA Weekend.
I mean my dad is dark-skinned [Mexican], Cash [Warren]’s daddy is dark-skinned [African-American], and our moms are both white. So there’s a 50-50 chance of our kid coming out dark or light. It would be nice if the daddies can see themselves in our baby.
Another hot topic with readers is the amount of money that is paid out to celebrities for the first photos of their babies. It appears as if Jessica and Cash will not be taking part in that with their daughter.
I haven’t really gotten any — not that I’m aware of. You have to understand, everything that is written is kind of bull …
