Shannon Noll talks about missing his family and winning over his daughter
Australian Idol runner up from 2003 Shannon Noll, 32, spoke to Woman’s Day this week in an article about his pride of his brothers. Also mentioned is Shannon’s wife, Rochelle, and their three children together, Cody, 6, Blake, 4, and Sienna, 11 months.
Shannon describes Rochelle as a wonderful and loving mother who has been alone and done a wonderful job in raising their children while he has been away working.
Rochelle is a godsend. She’s been a single parent for most of the last three years. She’s so supportive and kept sending me pictures of the kids over the phone.
Shannon did however say that this has had an affect on his family. Most notably, that his young daughter, Sienna, found it hard to get back in sync with her father for the first few days when he returned.
When I got back, Sienna looked at me for the first few days with this expression of, "Who are you?" It took me three days to win her over.

Good Weekend: The business of being Bindi Irwin
Update: Full quotes and scans added.
Originally posted August 19th: Good Weekend reporter, Jane Cadzow, describes Bindi Irwin, 9, as the ‘image of her father,’ the late Steve ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin. Bindi, provided a rare and intimate look into her life when she spoke to GW about life without her father, her family and Australia Zoo. When asked if the feeling of attention is overwhelming, Bindi answers not at all and that she ‘loves it.’ A natural in front of the camera and with an amazing personality, Bindi Irwin, is sure to be as successful and wonderful as her late father.
When asked about her family (mom, Terri, 43, and brother, Robert ‘Baby Bob’, 3 1/2), Bindi smiles and professes that she is extremely lucky.
I have the greatest, most perfect family! My mom is the greatest thing that ever happened to me! Same as my dad and my brother. I love them all very much!
At her father’s memorial service, Bindi got up and graced the crowd with an amazing tribute to her father that she wrote herself. Some doubted her acceptance of her father’s passing, when she strongly stood there and didn’t shed a tear as her mother sobbed in the audience. Then a month later, Bindi continued to acknowledge her father’s wonderful contribution to Australia, by presenting for him at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
It’s kind of sad that he couldn’t be here, but it’s nice that I could do it.

Australian Idol contestant Ricki-Lee Coulter talks a possible rugby team of children
Former Australian Idol contestant Ricki-Lee Coulter, 21, talks to Woman’s Day this week about her plans for the future and how many children she and soon-to-be husband, Jamie Babbington, 28, plan on having.
Yes, [we] definitely [want children]. Jamie wants a sevens rugby team, so I’ve been told no girls! No seriously, I’m really excited about starting a family, but it’s definitely something a long way off. We’re both so young, and there are lots of things we want to do, see and experience first.

Jamie Durie: Looking forward to holiday with daughter
Australian TV gardener, Jamie Durie, says that this year he is looking forward to taking a trip to India with his daughter, Taylor, 12. Taylor lives in Las Vegas with her mother, while Jamie works in Australia — he has shows on three channels — so it will be an opportunity for them to spend time together:
I’ve had inspirational things happen to me over the past few month, and I’ve always wanted to go there. I also left the decision up to Taylor, saying: "Do you want to go to Africa or India?" She said: "India." She’s interested in the culture and she is very artistic, plus she likes curry! It will be great fun.

Sarah Murdoch talks her sons and the possibility of more babies?
Australian TV host, model, breast cancer spokesperson, and wife of Lachlan Murdoch (Rupert’s son), Sarah Murdoch spoke to In Style this month about her sons, the time she spent filling in for Jessica Rowe on the Today Show and the possibility of having more children.
Sarah said the hardest part about working on the Today Show was missing the mornings with her sons.
I’d be sitting on set thinking,’Oh, they’ll be waking up now and having their breakfast,’ and that felt weird. I didn’t really get to see Lachlan very much. He’d get home from work, we’d do the dinner, bath and bed routine, and rather than having our usual glass of wine I’d have to say, ‘No, I’ve got to go to bed.’
Sarah says that any future work commitments will have to fit around the time that she spends with her boys.
It’s the hours needed that’s important. I never thought that I’d be able to have children, so I don’t want to miss out on that now.
Sarah and Lachlan spent almost five years attempting to have children and suffered several miscarriages — Sarah’s underactive thyroid was discovered as the reason and once this was addressed, Kalan and Aidan followed quickly. This means that the time with them, Sarah feels, is all that more significant.
When you’ve been trying for that long, you just start to get your head around the fact that you may never have children. I did consider adopting, yes. I think Lachlan would have been okay with adoption, but I don’t think he was was at the same stage I was at. He was still thinking it would happen, while I was already thinking of looking at other options.
While pregnant with Kalan, Sarah met with labor pain management specialist Juju Sundin, who she went on to co-author Birth Skills with;
She taught me all about the pain of childbirth and how to arm myself to get through each contraction. I went in to have Kalan and not once was I scared. I went through 16 hours and, yes, it’s awful pain, but it’s not sick pain. You’re equipped to handle it. Lachlan was there, he did the last class with me and learned all about the techniques. So when we gave birth it was like we both did it, 50/50. We’d gone through this crying and laughing and screaming and lying down quietly together and at the end when this baby was born, it was just fantastic.
Lachlan is an amazing and fabulous father.
Lachlan is an amazing with the kids. He changes nappies, he does it all – he’s really good.
Sarah is constantly concerned about the effect that public interest is going to have on her children’s lives.
I really hope my boys can have normal lives here in Bronte. The only thing that bothers me is all these paparazzi photographers. I keep saying to myself one day it’s going to get boring – me at the park with the kids. How many times can they photograph it? (Shannon’s note: This comment surprises me, because I have never seen Aidan and only ever two photos of Kalan – the featured picture is the one released following Kalan’s birth).
More children?
It would be nice to have a girl.

Antonia Kidman talks about Sybella’s birth and having her older daughter present
In this week’s issue of Australian magazine, New Idea, columnist and celebrity mother Antonia Kidman returns from maternity leave and talks about the birth of her fourth child and having her eldest daughter present. Antonia and husband, Angus Hawley welcomed fourth child, Sybella Ann, on March 28th. She is a sister for Lucia, 8, Hamish "Hamey", 5, and James, 3 1/2.
Sybella was a few days early but everything seemed to go according to plan. The little girl was born in the presence of her loved ones; father, grandmother, grandfather and Lucia.
I asked Lucia beforehand if she’d like to come to the hospital to see the birth of her sibling. It was something she was very keen to be a part of. As I have a fairly cautious nature, I didn’t build up the occasion too much in case something happened that meant it might be better if she stayed home. It was decided the boys were a little too young – the idea of three or even two children present during a painful labor was a little too much to bear. Lucia, as the oldest and without the distraction of her brothers, would hopefully absorb and enjoy the experience.
As it turned out, I need not have worried. The whole thing went according to plan. I went into labor one day early and, as my last two pregnancies were both a week overdue, her timely arrival was quite a surprise. At the first signs of labor we headed across Sydney to the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick, where all of our children have been born. My labors so far have all been fairly short and intense and this one proved no different. It was all over within a couple of hours, and Sybella Ann Kidman Hawley was born in the presence of her father, grandmother, grandfather and doting sister.
Having Lucia there was not only a wonderful experience for the two new sisters but also for Lucia and Antonia, as mother and daughter.
Having my daughter there to watch her sister come into this word was such a wonderful moment and hopefully it was a bonding experience for the girls themselves. One of the most beautiful parts of the whole occasion happened just after Sybella was born. Lucia was sitting up near my head and she was stroking my forehead, comforting me. It’s not often a daughter comforts her mother, but this was one such time and it will be forever in my memory.
Lucia being at the birth has also had a profound effect on the relationship that she has with her new sister.
Three months down the track and Lucia’s connection to her little sister grows stronger every day. From those first moments of Sybella’s life in the delivery suite when she held and helped bathe her baby sister, Lucia has been reluctant to give Sybella up. In fact, prising her away from her older sister can be quite a challenge. Lucia has definitely placed first dibs on Sybella and at times I’ve had to schedule time for the boys to spend with their sister when Lucia’s not around.

ROVE Live’s Carrie Bickmore talks exercise and pregnancy
Australia Carrie Bickmore, the infamously funny newsreader on Rove Live and Melbourne’s Nova 100 radio station spoke to WHO (People’s sister magazine) this week about her pregnancy and exercise. Carrie and her partner, Greg Lange are expecting their first child together in September.
Carrie says that she seems to be comfortable with her body.
I would say I have become less obsessed the older I am getting and learning to enjoy those bits of my body I always hated. Being pregnant has helped – it’s taught me to let my body do its own thing. I’ve spent many years trying to keep my shape, but now I just have to watch my body expand more and more every day, and I love it.
Her exercise regime.
I used to go to the gym every morning before work but now that I’m pregnant I’m swimming and I love going for walks with my girlfriends because I can chat and walk at the same time. I especially like doing it when I am stressed out, because it sends the calming vibes throughout my body and takes my mind off things. You just feel more positive about life.

Did exercise help you relax during your pregnant? If not exercise, what else?
