Bridie Carter on Dancing with the Stars, more children and her delicious son

P9240047_2Former McLeod’s Daughters star, Australian actress Bridie Carter, 36, talked to Woman’s Day this week about her upcoming role as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars and her "delicious" son. Bridie, who worked on McLeod’s Daughters for over five years, returned to work just six weeks after welcoming son, Otis Carter Wilson, in March 2005. Bridie is married to clothing designer, Michael Wilson.

Bridie says that Otis is just adorable and that going back to work, while breastfeeding, was one of the hardest things she has ever done.

He’s delicious, edible, my heart explodes with love! After he was born, I said I didn’t realize how much love you could feel for your child, but it gets better and better. He’s at such a wonderful age now. It makes it hard to go to work, but he comes with me to every job. He was only five weeks old when I went back to McLeod’s. I look back with horror. I was working 60-hour weeks and breast-feeding.

When asked about having more children, this is definitely something that Bridie and Michael have considered. Though, not initially.

That’s the question everyone asks as soon as you have one child! I didn’t think I wanted another baby at first, but my dear cousin Jess told me something would happen once Otis turned two, and it has. We would love him to have a sibling. I think he would be a great brother. Not yet, but I’m open to the idea. That’s the plan.

Good Weekend: The business of being Bindi Irwin

Bindi_irwin_gw_1Update: Full quotes and scans added.

Originally posted August 19th: Good Weekend reporter, Jane Cadzow, describes Bindi Irwin, 9, as the ‘image of her father,’ the late Steve ‘The Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin. Bindi, provided a rare and intimate look into her life when she spoke to GW about life without her father, her family and Australia Zoo. When asked if the feeling of attention is overwhelming, Bindi answers not at all and that she ‘loves it.’ A natural in front of the camera and with an amazing personality, Bindi Irwin, is sure to be as successful and wonderful as her late father.

When asked about her family (mom, Terri, 43, and brother, Robert ‘Baby Bob’, 3 1/2), Bindi smiles and professes that she is extremely lucky.

I have the greatest, most perfect family! My mom is the greatest thing that ever happened to me! Same as my dad and my brother. I love them all very much!

At her father’s memorial service, Bindi got up and graced the crowd with an amazing tribute to her father that she wrote herself. Some doubted her acceptance of her father’s passing, when she strongly stood there and didn’t shed a tear as her mother sobbed in the audience. Then a month later, Bindi continued to acknowledge her father’s wonderful contribution to Australia, by presenting for him at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

It’s kind of sad that he couldn’t be here, but it’s nice that I could do it.

Jamie Durie: Looking forward to holiday with daughter

Australian TV gardener, Jamie Durie, says that this year he is looking forward to taking a trip to India with his daughter, Taylor, 12. Taylor lives in Las Vegas with her mother, while Jamie works in Australia — he has shows on three channels — so it will be an opportunity for them to spend time together:

I’ve had inspirational things happen to me over the past few month, and I’ve always wanted to go there. I also left the decision up to Taylor, saying: "Do you want to go to Africa or India?" She said: "India." She’s interested in the culture and she is very artistic, plus she likes curry! It will be great fun.

Blue Heeler Lisa McCune talks about motherhood and the difference between parenting boys and girls

Lisa_mccuneAustralian actress, Lisa McCune, most famous here for her role in local drama, Blue Heelers (she won a TV Week Logie for her role as Maggie Doyle) talked to Australian Women’s Weekly, this month about motherhood and her three children, Archer James, 6, Oliver Timothy, 3 1/2, and Remy Elise, 2. Here are the children/parent related highlights;

Lisa talks about her relationship with Remy and how it is different than having a boy.

She’s like my little shadow. She just goes everywhere I go, she loves being with me. Archer’s energy is just amazing. These boys need to be out of the house by 9am and running in the backyard, or collecting shells on the beach down the road, where we go a lot. But Remy will sit down and play in the kitchen, and do things quietly on her own. We will have to lock her up when she starts wanting to go out with her big brothers’ friends.

Lisa also talks about her husband, Tim Disney as a father.

Tim’s such a great dad. It’s kind of like living in wonderland with Tim, even for me. There’s always some crazy activity going on. He’s really fun.

Hugh Jackman on Supernanny and being embarrassed by his kids!

Tags: Ha ha, News, Quotes

Hugh_jackman_070519_21_cbbHugh Jackman, father of two, who is in Australia filming the new Baz Luhrmann film, Australia, spoke to Foxtel Magazine about fatherhood and some of the most valuable advice he has received, as well as his kids embarrassing him (or lack thereof). The couple have two children, Oscar, 7, and Ava, almost 2.

Hugh and wife, Deborra-Lee Furness credit Supernanny for helping their daughter sleep.

I can tell you something I got from the Supernanny [Jo Frost]. She is so good. The sleeping thing, when you have a kid who is about nine months, put them in a cot, sit next to the cot and don’t look at the child. Don’t say a thing and, every two minutes, move away to the door. Within three nights my daughter was sleeping. Supernanny – click on her, that chick is unbelievable.

No matter what his kids do, they never embarrass him.

I’ve had my children crap on floors and on me. I never get embarrassed, I kind of love it.
