Actors Reese Witherspoon, 31, and Ryan Phillippe, 32, put aside their differences to attend a talent show at Deacon Reese’s, 3 1/2, school. Also with them was daughter Ava Elizabeth, 7 1/2. Afterwards Ryan took the kids and Reese smiled and waved goodbye.

Life & Style is reporting that actor Jake Gyllenhaal, who is reportedly in the early stages of a relationship with soon-to-be divorced actress/celebrity-mom Reese Witherspoon, is not only falling for the Oscar winner, but is already head over heels for her two children, 8-year-old Ava and 3-year-old Deacon. A friend of Reese’s says,

Jake loves those two kids. He’s is so good with them. He loves kicking a ball around with Deacon, and he even lets Ava play hairdresser with him.

Jake, a celebrity uncle to sister, actress Maggie Gyllenhaal’s daughter Ramona, and celebrity-godfather to his former costar Heath Ledger’s, daughter Matilda, has mentioned his desire to be a father and may be considering the role of stepfather.  According to Reese’s pal, he reportedly told the actress, "I want to be a part of your family." One of the things that Jake find most attractive in Reese is her exemplary mothering skills, a Gyllenhaal family friend says. The pal adds, 

Jake’s impressed by how wonderful she is with the kids. He’s told his friends how much he admires the good manners she’s instilled in her kids.

Although this year has been a professional high point for Ryan Phillippe, his personal life has not had it so well. Since wife Reese Witherspoon filed for divorce in November, Ryan has been mum on the subject, but at a press conference for his new film, Breach, and in an interview with Extra this week, he discussed how the addition of children makes the split even harder to deal with. He said,

It’s unfortunate when you have kids…but I signed up for this and have to deal with it. I don’t read the magazines or watch the shows…It’s hard when people follow me to my kid’s school. This is the most difficult time in my life.

He also mentioned that he is taking time to focus on his children, after having worked much of the last two years on films such as Crash and Flags of Our Fathers. Ryan said,

I did three movies in the last year and a half and I’m going to take a good long break and be a dad. So that’s No. 1 on my mind right now. I acknowledge that the successes and the opportunities I’ve had recently have been the best of my career. I’ve got to say it’s the last thing on my mind right now, considering what I’m going through in my personal life, but I definitely appreciate the opportunities.

Although they are currently divorcing, former celebrity couple, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe put their differences aside this week to attend their daughter Ava’s, 7, school play. The couple arrived separately (Reese had son, Deacon, 3 in tow) to see Ava perform as a kangaroo and then left separately.
