More details are emerging about the recent baby shower for Salma Hayek courtesy of NoMi boutique, the upscale Los Angeles baby store where the actress is registered. 

The baby expected by Salma, 41, and her fiance Francois Henri-Pinault — believed to be a girl to be named Valentina — will be kept warm and snuggly in Little Giraffe’s plush chenille blanket ($85.95 – see below) and faux-fur Luxe blanket ($78) in cream.  Salma was additionally gifted with Little Giraffe’s luxe hooded towels ($37.95 – at left), blankies and burpies in pink and cream.

Update:  Access Hollywood has video footage of some more of Salma’s gear, including a modern pink Bloom ‘Coco’ Lounger ($350) purchased by fellow actress Penelope Cruz, and an Orbit infant system ($899), purchased by her manager.  A representative for NoMi Boutique pointed out the dual-purpose of the infant carrier’s extended sunshade, noting that it can also serve as an ‘anti-paparazzi’ device. 

Originally posted August 29th: Salma Hayek celebrated her baby shower on Saturday, Aug. 25, at her Hollywood Hills home and got a load of presents for her and fiance Francois Henri-Pinault’s first child. Registered at NoMi Boutique, the actress, who turns 41 on Sunday, received Pentunia Pickle Bottom Cake bags in black ($325) and pink ($425), two Bloom high chairs ($400 each) and Graco SnugRide car seats ($130 each).

Guest Pia Lindstrom said the mother-to-be had a blast at the party.

She was very excited about everything. She was full of pregnancy glow and looked so happy.

Salma has not announced her due date or the sex of her baby, but gift cards were made out to "Valentina."

Actress Salma Hayek opens up about the societal pressures on women to become mothers in the May issue of Marie Claire. The 40-year-old Ugly Betty executive producer is expecting her first child with her new fiance, businessman François-Henri Pinault.  Salma says women should not have children just because society tells them to, especially not if they feel aren’t ready,

Motherhood is not for everyone. It is for me, but there’s no reason women should feel rushed to have a child.

She says that these and other expectations placed on women today are unrealistic and unfair.

Society thinks if you don’t have children, you’ve failed as a woman, even if you are CEO of a company. You’ve got to be beautiful, smart, skinny, tall, rich, successful at your job, married to the right guy – and have genius children. And by the way, you also have to be a nun!

This interview took place before Salma publicly announced her pregnancy in March.
