Proud father Noel Gallagher reportedly texted friends on Saturday to boast of the birth of his son with partner Sara MacDonald.

He shall go by the name of Donovan Rory MacDonald Gallagher and he will be a legend. Give thanks and praise.

Noel, 39, co-founder of the successful Brit rock band Oasis, joked to friends before Donovan’s birth that he planned to name his first son after Sven Goran Eriksson, the manager of Noel’s beloved Manchester City soccer team. Unfortunately for Noel (and Sven Goran Eriksson), Sara didn’t care for the name. A friend said:

During the pregnancy Noel was calling the bump Little Sven. He said he wanted to name the lad after the City boss. Luckily he’s ended up as Donovan.

Sara gave birth to Donovan in London’s Portland Hospital on Saturday, after seven hours of labor. Sara reportedly decided on a natural birth for her first child.

Fans of unusual baby names, rejoice!  Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher and his girlfriend Sara MacDonald are expecting a baby this summer, and it looks like you won’t be disappointed.  Quips Noel:

I’m thinking of Gandhi or Goliath — Just imagine it, Gandhi Gallagher.  Anything that begins with a G really.  But whatever it is its going to be legendary…Chutney is one I like if the baby is a geezer.  Maybe Gizmo Gallagher, or Gilly Gallagher.

The baby will join Anais, 7, Noel’s daughter from a previous marriage.

Oasis singer Noel Gallagher, 38, and his partner Sara MacDonald, 31, attended a private viewing of photographer Lawrence Watson’s work in London which features Noel and other members of Oasis. Sara is five months pregnant and seemed to have that maternity glow. The yet to be born baby is the first for the couple but Noel has daughter Anais, 7, with ex-wife Meg Matthews.

Oasis’ Noel Gallagher, 39, was spotted at the Stansted airport in London with his daughter Anais, 7, who was looking quite fashionable in her skinny jeans and flats! Anais will be a big sister this fall – Noel’s girlfriend Sara is expecting a baby.
