Sarah Jessica Parker launched her second fragrance, Covet, today, butthere’s only one scent she covets — the one found in her 4-year-oldson James Wilkie’s room.

Not to sound treacly, but it would be how my son’s bedroom smells whenyou walk in. [The scent is] clean, and it’s mixed withtheir sweat while they’re sleeping and the cotton of their blankets andthe moisture that’s right underneath their hair. But you almost don’twant to share it.

These days, though, Sarah doesn’t have time to spray on her perfume as she’s more concerned with applying another product.

I wake up and have a fight with my son about putting sunscreen on.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s son, James Broderick, 4 1/2, is full of questions about different families after having friends at school which have two parents of the same sex. Sarah Jessica has said that she and husband, Matthew Broderick have sat James down to talk about the issue;

He goes to school with a lot of kids who have different families from his, so he’ll be like, ‘Jen has two mommas’ or ‘Charlie has two poppas’. And so we’ve been talking about what it is to be gay; I want him to understand it in terms that aren’t overwhelming to him. But he asks about everything. Death is a very big conversation piece.

Actually, the things that are far more complicated for me to answer are any kind of science questions. He has a really keen interest in science. I have basic fundamental knowledge — but I don’t know what he’s going to do about homework. I’m glad my husband’s smart about that sort of thing.

We’ve read it every night for weeks, and he still asks, ‘Why don’t those children have what they need?’ Because he lives in a country where clean water and food are at arm’s length, it’s hard for him to internalize why they aren’t available to everyone.‘


Jada Pinkett Smith, mom to Jaden Christopher Syre, 8 1/2, and Willow Camille Reign, 6: Children’s books by Fred Crump, Jr ($10.36). ‘They’re black fairy tales I found that are kind of underground. They’re written by a guy who took all of the classic fairy tales and re-created them with black characters. My daughter loves them. They’re her favorite!‘

Mariska Hargitay, mom to August Miklos Friedrich, 10 months: The Sneetches and Other Stories ($9.42) by Dr. Seuss. ‘All of the Seuss books are so brilliant. They’re rhythmic, and kids like that. My husband Peter and I read to our son August and do different voices. Then August eats the books. He doesn’t discriminate. He’ll eat whatever we have.’

According to Life & Style Weekly, an insider has reported that Sarah Jessica Parker, 41, and her husband Matthew Broderick, 44, are expecting their second child. Right now they have son James Wilkie, 4 years old.

"It couldn’t have happened to a better couple," the insider boasts. "She’s overjoyed… he’s been like a mother hen."

However, SJP’s rep denies that she is pregnant.
