In a Monday morning appearance on Good Morning America actress Marcia Cross talked about her weight gain with 3 1/2-month-old fraternal twin daughters Eden and Savannah, and her plans to take it off with the help of two personal trainers.  Although all new moms feel a certain degree of pressure to return to their pre-baby form, Marcia has more incentive than most — Her hit television show Desperate Housewives resumes filming July 10.

You know, I actually do feel pressure to be back … looking the way I did before I left.  But I don’t think it’s just for TV, because I would feel that way regardless, because I just want to be at my best.  Maybe I wouldn’t worry about being quite so thin because the camera adds those pounds.

Marcia said that although she was disciplined with the kinds of food she chose to eat, she was not always disciplined with how much she consumed.

I was eating for two, but really, I craved basically very nutritional foods.  I mean, I would have loved a few more vanilla milkshakes, but I knew on the other side of it that I wouldn’t want to have to spend months and months losing it.  I still topped 190, so I was eating a lot.  A lot.

Actress Marcia Cross, 45, who welcomed fraternal twins Eden and Savannah 3 1/2 months ago, has been pleasantly surprised about the length of time it’s taken to lose her baby weight. The Desperate Housewives star, who previously said, ‘I didn’t just feel large, I was large [during my pregnancy]‘ — she reached 190 lbs — tells People,

I’m still working on it, but it’s happening a lot faster than Iexpected. [I've been] working out at home with exercise DVD’s and at [L.A.gym] Burn 60. I think it’s the end of those last few pounds, I hope. It probably won’t happen until I stop breastfeeding!

For now, Marcia is enjoying the fact that the girls are getting larger and she and Tom have the opportunity to take them out and about more. She says,

I’m so happy.Sometimes very tired, but mostly just a happy mother. Ilike to get [the girls] out and show them the world. Say hi to the flowers. [Tom's] there every minute, and he’s as madly in love withthem as I am. I don’t know what I would do if I had one of thosehusbands who was just not interested.

One pressing issue that’s still up in the air for Marcia and Tom is an upcoming event on July 7th — co-star Eva Longoria’s Paris wedding. However, Marcia’s not sure she’s ready for a trans-Atlantic trip with the girls yet, so she and Tom are starting small.

We’re going to go on a trial trip this weekend and see how itgoes. We have no idea what it’s going to be like traveling,so we’ll have to figure it out.

On being realistic: What I didn’t want to do was put out the myth that you can be in your 40s and just pop out kids.  I just don’t want to do that.  It’s really irresponsible. Have your babies younger if you can, which I would have done, but I just didn’t find my husband until later. 

It’s just a difficult road. It’s terribly expensive, so it’s a drain on couples financially…it’s emotionally challenging…there’s nothing easy about it…it’s hard…the end result is the joy.  But, it’s definitely a hard road.

On how she told Tom she was pregnant: I put his cappuccino on a tray and put the little stick on it and…he thought it was the spoon…and that’s how I broke the story.

More kids?: [Desperate Housewives producer Marc Cherry] would kill me.  I promised him I wouldn’t have any more kids, but you never know if there’s an adoption in the future.

Just Jared has new photos of actress Marcia Cross out in Santa Monica on Sunday. It looks as if the  Desperate Housewives star decided to take some "me" time, catching up with her friends for some gal-bonding mani-pedis and coffee. After having her fun, Marcia ran some family errands, picking up groceries and flowers at Whole Foods Market.

Marcia and her stockbroker hubby, Tom Mahoney, have been busy with their 6-week-old baby girls, fraternal twins Eden and Savannah.

Did you take some "me" time shortly after giving birth? How important was it for you or your significant other to have some time out of the house after having children?

Marcia Cross and her husband Tom Mahoney were snapped out on a shopping spree in Los Angeles. The couple welcomed fraternal twin daughters Eden and Savannah on February 20th. The girls, who were six weeks premature and were in the NICU after birth, arrived home late last month.
